What's New in the Shop?
First cast:
While negativity often dominates headlines, we at Sweeney's Sports firmly believe in recognizing the positive work our public servants do day in and day out. We recently experienced firsthand the dedication and professionalism of the Napa Police Department, Napa District Attorney's Office, and Napa Court system in dealing with an attempted break-in that happened back in October.
Today we received a check for $16.00 which is hopefully the first restitution payment of many to cover our expenses for an emergency fix to the Gun Shop door.
The suspect was apprehended by Napa PD within hours of the incident. Then the Napa DA's office went to work. The court eventually convicted this individual and handed him a just sentence.
As a small token of appreciation, Sweeney's Sports is offering a 10% discount on all merchandise to all active employees of the Napa Police Department, Napa District Attorney's Office, and Napa Court system. Simply show your valid government-issued ID (badge, ID card, etc.) at checkout from today, February 21st, through March 10th, 2024.

Please note that we are changing our weekend hours. Starting this week and through March 31st we are shifting to our winter hours:
Saturdays: 9am-6pm
Sundays: 9am-3pm
Once the spring rolls in we are planning to go back to opening at 7 am on Saturday and Sunday.

Bay Area Striper Season starts in April.
When we cast our lines into the water, we are not only engaging in the pursuit of fish. We are also connecting with the natural world in a way that is both intimate and awe-inspiring.
Spring will be here before we know it. This means one thing for Bay Area anglers: striper season is upon us! These awesome fish begin their annual migration into the bay and our river system to spawn once the water temperature reaches 60 degrees. Most spawning happens between 61-69 degrees and it extends from April to June.

Sturgeon
All the rains bring Sturgeon into our river system. It's bait fishing time!

Use live Grass or Ghost Shrimp, Pile Worms, Salmon roe, or Eel threaded onto a barbless hook, wrapped with magic thread (twine), and terminated with a bait button.
It's important to keep your bait on the bottom with a 4-8 ounce pyramid sinker and, ideally, a weighted leader. We now make Custom Sturgeon Leaders here at the shop. Come and check them out. $5.99 apiece.
