Napa River Fishing Report

The stripers have officially started to migrate into the river in numbers.

How do we know this?

We had a fleet of 5 boats fish the Napa River Tuesday morning. Between us, we caught and released over 60 fish in under 4 hours. Around half were undersized, and the rest were keeper-sized with some in the 6lb+ plus category.

The Napa River striper season is officially here. It’s time to dust off your favorite bait fishing or trolling rig and head to the river to try your luck.

If you need to refresh your striper fishing skills, click on either link below:

Otherwise, stop by the shop for the latest gear, tackle, bait, and advice.

A Recap of our Inaugural Napa River Striper Fishing Workshop

Last week we hosted our first hands-on Striper Fishing Workshop where we had boat owners looking to improve their striper fishing game and aspiring boat owners acting as deckhands.

The experience was designed for both existing and aspiring boat owners. Existing boat owners would advance their Napa River fishing skills while aspiring boat owners would act as deckhands and be matched with a boat owner on the fishing day.

Fly Fishing Report

Putah Creek Fishing Report

Current flows are around 550 cfs. No new reports have come in this week, but it’s definitely a good time to hit the creek.

Recommended Flies

- Baetis (BWO). Hogan’s S&Ms, FB Pheasant Tails, Quilldigon, May It Be, Micro May, Juju Baetis (#18-20)

- Midges. WD-40, Zebra Midge, Jujubee Midge (#20-22) in various colors. Also, consider Bird Nest (#16-18), San Juan Worms, and Squirmy Worms.

Hat Creek Update

Hat Creek is also fishing well, with good dry fly action in the evening and indicator rigs with flashy nymphs producing during the day. A technique that has been particularly effective is stopping your drift and allowing the nymph to lift off the bottom.

As always,

We truly appreciate every time you walk through our doors. Thank you for choosing to spend your hard-earned dollars with us. It's a privilege to be of service.
