Napa River Fishing Report
We went out on Tuesday and had a decent day on the water. We trolled for a few hours changing lures and tactics but had no bites. We even tried scenting the rattletraps, but had no takers. The water is still cold, 56-58 degrees, and fairly stained. We finally anchored up in sloughs and threw out anchovies. Our first bite and fish came a few minutes after. A healthy looking and fat 22" breeder. The fish put up a great fight and after a quick photo was released to produce many baby stripers and fight another day.
If you are on the boat, find eddies in sleuths, anchor up, and cast anchovies, ghost shrimp, or pile worms. You'll get bites. For those fishing from the bank, continue to use cut or live bait.
A quick tip for bait fishing.
Cut the head and tail off of anchovies, score the side with a sharp knife, and tie it to the hook with magic thread. Make sure the business end of the hook is exposed and ready to get your fish hooked up.
Live Bait Update
We expect to have Live Ghost shrimp and Pile Worms for you on Friday late morning.
